Copyright is the exclusive right to do or authorise others to do certain acts in relation to literary, dramatic or musical work, computer programme, artistic work, cinematograph film and sound recording.

In common parlance, copyright is the right to copy or refuse copying a person’s original creations. A copyright is an intellectual property right which gives the owner of copyright an exclusive right to sell or reproduce the work in which copyright subsists. Ordinarily, author of a work is the first owner of the Copyright therein. Copyright subsists in original work.
